JAMMU, Mar 13: Upset over no response of the Government towards their demand of regularization, one of the agitating female Contractual Lecturer has started fast unto death while her other colleagues took out a protest march.
Amidst shouting of slogans and carrying placards, the agitating Contractual Lecturers marched from Exhibition Ground to Bus Stand where Police did not allow them to move further.
However, there was no use of force by Police as the agitating Contractual Lecturers did not confront with the cops and culminated their march peacefully at the venue of hunger strike near Press Club, where a protest dharna is being staged for the last 28 days.
While other agitators are observing a chain hunger strike, one of the Contractual Lecturers, namely Seema Rajput, has begun a fast unto death.
She converted her chain hunger strike into fast unto death yesterday and vowed to continue the protest till a logical conclusion.
Meanwhile, Vinod Kumar, who was on fast unto death and had been shifted to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of his critical condition, last week, has refused to take food in the hospital.
The Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act.2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the ad-hoc/contractual/consolidated employees after rendering seven years of service.
