Contractual lecturers’ hunger strike enters 7th day

JAMMU, Feb 20: The hunger strike of All J&K Contractual Lecturers (10+2) Forum entered 7th day today.
The Contractual Lecturers went on hunger strike on February 14 demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the adhoc/contractual/consolidated employees after rendering seven years of service.
While speaking on the occasion, Arun Bakshi, State president of the Forum, said that 10+2 contractual lecturers are also consolidated vide Order No 1584-Edu of 2003 and vide Order No 1328 of GAD all the contractual lecturers are to continue till further orders.
Bakshi also reiterated other demands of the Forum like enhancement of the salary of contractual lecturers as per the latest Apex Court Rulings for “Equal Work Equal Wages’ and criticized the Government for paying a meager amount of Rs 7000 per month to them.
He said that one of the senior contractual lecturer namely Vinod Kumar, is on fast unto death with effect from February 14 but the authorities concerned did not respond to the grievances and demands of contractual lecturers.
Bakshi disclosed that lecturers Sanjay Kumar, Pankaj Sharma and Yograj are also on chain hunger strike. He said that their hunger strike will continue till their demands are met.
