Contractual lecturers’ hunger strike enters 102nd day

JAMMU, May 26: The contractual lecturers (10+2) continued their hunger strike on the 102nd day today but without any response from the concerned authorities at the helm of affairs. They have been demanding for their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the ad-hoc/ Contractual/ Consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services.
Today contractual lecturers strongly protested outside the Press Club raising slogans in support of their demands.

While addressing, Balvinder Kour said that they have been waiting for Cabinet decision as promised by Education Minister, MoS Education, Speaker Legislative Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister and the Forest Minister. She expressed their resolve to continue the chain hunger strike till their grievances were redressed. She also said that if their demands were not conceded at an earliest they will accelerate this movement to an extreme level and the Government will have to face the consequences in the coming days.
Those who sat on hunger strike today included Parduman Kumar, Surinder Kumar, Seema Rajput and Balvinder Kour.
