JAMMU, May 16: Continuing their ongoing hunger strike for the 92nd consecutive day today, Contractual Lecturers (10+2), who are demanding their regularization, held a strong protest demonstration, here today
Amidst raising of slogans, the protesting Contractual Lecturers also torched an effigy of the State Government and vowed to continue their struggle till their demands are conceded.
These Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the Regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/Consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services.
The protesting Contractual Lecturers strongly condemned the State Government and its Education Minister for unnecessarily delaying decision over their demands.
While addressing the gathering, Arun Bakshi, president of Contractual Lecturers (10+2) Association and Jeevan Kumar, general secretary, threatened to further intensify the ongoing struggle if their demands are not conceded. They alleged that the Government did nothing for them except providing lip service and only assurances.
Earlier, this morning, fresh batch of Contractual Lecturers began their chain hunger strike amidst raising of slogans against the State Government and in support of their demand.
