Contractual lecturers continue chain hunger strike

JAMMU, Mar 25: Demanding regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, the 10+2 contractual lecturers continued their chain hunger strike for the 405th day, here today.
During hunger strike, the protesting contractual lecturers raised slogans in favour of their demands. They also raised slogans against the Government for not conceding their demands, for which they are on strike for the past 405 days.
Arun Bakshi, President of the Association said that the portfolio of Finance Department now lies with Education Minister Altaf Bukhari and it is not very difficult to redress the demands.
The Minister should not feel any hesitation in this case to do it, he said and appealed to the Minister to fulfill his promise by taking up the matter in the cabinet with financial clearance for its final approval.
He also appealed to the Chief Minister to intervene in the matter and redress it on priority basis, so as to save lecturers, who are on the verge of starvation.
Jeevan Kumar, Zabir Hussain Shah and Balvinder Kour were sitting on chain hunger strike today.
