Contractors Association warns to stop development works

JAMMU, Mar 2: Contractors Association held a meeting under the chairmanship of its Provincial President Sham Singh and condemned the act of Vigilance Organization of arresting the four senior engineers without conducting investigation.
The meeting was attended by large number of contractors of PWD (R&B) contractors.
While speaking, Singh said that the arrested engineers have booked the in a fabricated and politically mobilized case. The act of the Vigilance Organization is unlawful, he added.
“Various times, the Association had apprised the Government of political pressure and of getting additional works executed by the contractors resulting delay in payments to contractors”, Singh informed.
He appealed to the Government to make a policy to get the development works executed according to the funds available with the department.
“No political pressure may be imposed on the engineers and contractors to execute extra work over the allotted work’, he said and warned the Government that all the development works will be stopped immediately if the matter is not resolved within days.
