JAMMU, Jan 27: Prominent citizens and Congressmen of Bishnah have expressed serious concern on continuous step-motherly treatment meted out by the BJP-PDP Government to this Assembly constituency and resolved to launch direct action if the area continues to be neglected by the Government.
However showing full faith in the Congress leadership they resolved to remain vigilant and fight against any diabolical plan of the communal and fascist forces to divide the society in the name of religion and caste.
In a meeting held here today, they unanimously passed a resolution to this effect and vowed to back all efforts of senior Congress leader M K Bhardwaj in forcing the Government to take appropriate steps for the all round development of the area which has not got its due share despite its unique location, political significance and great scope for agriculture production.
Addressing the capacity crowd at a local auditorium former Minister and senior Congress leader Dr Manohar Lal wondered that Bishnah area is being continuously neglected by the present Government for no rhyme or reason. The people have also suffered due to the inaptitude of previous BJP MLA and even the current legislator has not come up to the expectations of the people.
Recollecting the rich past of the area he said that Bishnah was represented by towering leaders such as Pandit Trilochan Dutta and Bhagat Chajju Ram. Praising Bhardwaj for relentlessly working for the area and its people, he reminded the gathering that it was after a long time that the area has got a leader of his stature.
Speaking on the occasion  Ashok Sharma, senior Congress leader and former MLA from Kalakote said the party was fully aware of hardships of people living in these border areas and is committed on resolving their problems and issues related to development. He assured them that all efforts of Bhardwaj in this direction would have the party’s full support.
Speaking on the occasion Bhardwaj profusely thanked people for turning out in large numbers despite heavy rain. “I am fully conversant with the problems of the area and assure you to take every possible step with people’s support to develop the area”, he said adding: “It is shocking that a centrally located area like Bishnah which could have become an artery for choked Jammu has not found attention of either the area MLA for the past over two decades or that of the Government”.
Among others who spoke on the occasion include Mr Ashok Dubey and Mr Ashwani Puri, both organising secretaries of the PCC.
