Congmen shedding crocodile tears on Memon’s hanging: Vakil

SRINAGAR, July 31: Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that some Congress leaders, like Digvijay Singh and Shashi Tharoor, who are shedding crocodile tears over the hanging of Yaqoob Memon are only trying to exploit sentiments of Muslims living in India.
In a press statement here Mr Vakil said that these leaders are playing cheap politics merely for Muslim votes. He said that if these leaders were really soft hearted and could not tolerate such happenings besides get saddened, then they should have wasted no time in getting the execution of Mohammad Afzal Guru stopped by formally sending a delegation to President of India for reprieving Afzal Guru.
The former Minister said that it was the fallout of the secret hanging of Afzal Guru that pushed people of the State towards crucial cross road situation and due to this wrong and secret hanging highly educated youth started to pick up guns once again. He said that it depicts dubious character of Congress which has made the situation in Kashmir complicated and encouraged alienation of people.
Mr Vakil said policies of Congress are being formulated only for their own benefits and convenience rather than for national interest.
