Cong to emerge largest party in 2014 polls: Soz

SRINAGAR, June 2: Former  Union minister and PCC president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz has said that Congress Party would emerge as single largest party in 2014 assembly elections.
Addressing a large gathering at Palpora in Langate today Prof Soz claimed that Congress would emerge as the single largest party in the State in coming Assembly elections. He said unless the provisions of 73rd amendment of the Constitution of India are incorporated into the State’s Panchyat Act, the Panchayat functionaries can never be empowered to serve the people best. He said Congress Party was committed to strengthen Panchayats, Sarpanchs and Panchs.
The PCC chief also sanctioned Rs 20 lakh  for development works in the area and said that CPO Baramulla in consultation with  Mohd Abdullah Mir will identify the works under rules. On this occasion local leaders and public projected their demands  regarding water supply, irrigation and development of lanes and drains etc.
Minister incharge PHE &FC, Sham Lal Sharma said that he has noted the demands of the people in respect of drinking water and irrigation and he would initiate action for undertaking these works as early as possible.  He agreed with the people that these were essential demands and he was committed for the same. He also assured the gathering to regularise all permanent daily wagers.
MLC G N Monga, Mohd Abdullah Mir, G M Wani, Haji Farooq and Ch Salamuddin also addressed the gathering.
