Cong questions PM about his poll promise of getting Women’s Bill passed

NEW DELHI, Jan 31:
The Congress on Wednesday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his promise made during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls of getting the Women’s Reservation Bill passed.
In a post on the social media , AICC spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi said,”Dear PM Modi, When will you fulfill your promise to the women of this country and pass the Women’s 33 per cent Reservation bill. You haven’t even initiated a debate on it in Parliament. Seems like yet another chunavi jumla .”
In a statement on its social media handle, the Congress said,”Women’s empowerment is more than just colouring a book pink. When will PM Modi fulfill his election promise of passing the Women’s Reservation Bill? ”
In a statement, the All India Mahila Congress said,”Women empowerment needs concrete action, enactment and implementation of laws that ensure women a voice in Nation building. It needs Women For 33.”
The Congress has been demanding that PM Modi ensure the passage of the Women’s Bill in the Lok Sabha, where the BJP is in a huge majority.
Earlier , former Congress president Sonia Gandhi had written a letter to the PM reminding him of his promise to secure the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill  which is aimed at ensuring 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies.
The Bill has already been passed in the Rajya Sabha.  (UNI)
