JAMMU, July 30: Congress activists today held strong protest demonstration near Press Club here today against BJP for its silence over the highly dangerous and controversial statement of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
A large number of Congress leaders and workers assembled outside Press Club, Jammu  and started protest in the morning.  PCC vice president and former Minister Raman Bhalla,  District Congress Committee Jammu (Urban) president  Anil Chopra and PCC general secretaries Vikram Malhotra and Manmohan Singh led the protest. They strongly condemned the statement of  Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and asked BJP to clear its stand  with regard to the remarks made by the PDP supremo and State Chief Minister on Burhan Wani.
Congress activists were carrying banners and placards in their hands  amidst chanting  of slogans against BJP  for its soft stand towards  terrorists and asked the BJP leadership to stop hiding and come out of the shadow of Chief Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, Raman Bhalla said that the BJP should clear its stand on the dangerous statements of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti regarding the encounter of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani. In her statement, she has expressed sympathies with the terrorists and encouraged those indulging in anti-India activities saying that their sacrifices will not go waste and did not uttered a single word for  security forces who are fighting with militants.
Anil Chopra  said that Chief Minister is clear on her stand but BJP who is equal partner in the Coalition Govt and also the ruling party at the Centre should explain to the people  whether it endorses the statement of Mehbooba Mufti or not and if not it should immediately snap ties with PDP. He said that the people of Jammu who have voted BJP, with the hope that it will serve the interests of  J&K, especially the Jammu, now feel that they have been cheated  and lost their faith in BJP.
Senior leaders  Vikram Malhota, Manmohan Singh, Rajeev Saraf and Lalita Sharma  also spoke on the occasion.
