JAMMU, Oct 24: State Unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while lauding the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for announcing package for flood victims and construction of hospitals in the State, said Mr Modi is the first PM who is deeply concerned over the prevailing crisis in the State and is trying hard to redress the problems of the people of the State.
Talking to reporters here, today along with Party vice president, Ramesh Arora and its spokesperson, Sunil Sethi, BJP State president Jugal Kishore Sharma said that BJP delegation which met Mr Modi under his leadership at Srinagar yesterday apprised him of the plight of the flood victims and border migrants.
He said the delegation also demanded that Rs five lakh ex-gratia as is being given to the next of kin of militancy victims be given to the next of kin of the person killed in border firing also and the compensation for injured people in border firing be also enhanced. Mr Modi in principle has agreed to the demand and assured immediate decision in this regard. The PM also issued directives to the officers to look into the issue, Sharma added.
Making a scathing attack on Congress leaders for not meeting Mr Modi, Sharma said this way the Party has been totally exposed before the public. Had the Party really been concerned towards the flood victims, its leaders would have definitely met the Prime Minister said Sunil Sethi.
He said except Congress leaders of all political parties met Mr Modi and discussed the problems of the people with him. Terming Mr Modi’s visit highly successful, he alleged that some vested elements are trying to mislead the people about PM’s visit.
It was for the first time that people of Kashmir came on roads to welcome PM and chanted pro Modi slogans, said Ramesh Arora. It was also for the first time that separatist Hurriyat Conference could not get public response to its bandh call, he added.
