Cong declares manifesto for Ladakh region

LEH, Apr 15: Congress Party announced its manifesto for entire Ladakh region including Leh and Kargil, during a massive rally at Polo Ground here today.
Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies and senior Congress leader Nawang Rigzin Jora, Rigzin Spalbar and party  candidate  Tsering Samphel addressed the large public gathering and made announcement of  party  election manifesto focusing on the local issues. These leaders described Congress as a secular force and said that only Congress can ensure better development in the region. They also highlighted the achievements of the Congress led UPA Government.
While releasing 2014- Lok Sabha elections manifesto for Ladakh, they declared that Congress Party in Ladakh would continue its struggle for the Ladakh region, UT status for Ladakh, connecting Ladakh with National Power Grid, expedition of work on Zojila tunnel, work on multipurpose Khardongla tunnel, generaton of 5000 MW electricity in Leh and 2500 MW in Kargil through Mega Solar Power Plants, generation of  Geo-Thermal energy at Puga and Chumathang, construction of new air terminal building at Leh and extension of Kargil runway, construction of alternate road to Ladakh through  Prangala, expediting work on Nimo-Padum-Darcha road, promote micro and small scale industries, open an SSB   detachment in Ladakh, creation of Police Range in Ladakh, opening Kailash Mansarovar for pilgrims and tourists, provide telecommunication coverage to all left out villages through mobile and DSPT services, opening of new tourist areas, according university status to CIBS Choglamsar, early completion and functioning of  satellite campus of Kashmir  University at Taru to start PG courses,  inclusion of Bhoti language in 8th Schedule of Indian constitution, implementation of vision document  2025  of LAHDC, increase in flight frequency to Leh,  promote communal harmony  in Ladakh, preservation  and promotion of cultural heritage  of Ladakh, creation of teachers posts of Bhot and Arabic languages, opening of new ITIs/ skill development centers, creation of women battalion in Paramiltary forces/ Army, value addition to natural resources of Ladakh including Pashmina, herbal plants, seaburkthorn, horticulture  and agricultural produce and covering     large number of unemployed persons under various self-employment schemes.
