JAMMU, Oct 2: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) today expressed anguish over the ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in Poonch sector which resulted into the death of two children.
The PCC also demanded adequate compensation for the affected families.
In a press statement here today, PCC chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma said, ” It is tragic that Pakistan has repeatedly violated the ceasefire and it was unfortunate that the unwarranted firing in Poonch resulted in the killing of two children and injuries to 12 others. We demand adequate compensation to the victims and specialised treatment for the injured,” Sharma said.
Criticising Pakistan for the repeated ceasefire violations, Sharma demanded that necessary measures be taken for the safety of the people living along the border.
” It is unfortunate that the PDP-BJP Government does not care much for people living near the border,” Sharma alleged.
He termed the Centre and the State Government “total failure on all fronts” and blamed them for the “present situation of the state”.
The State Congress leader demanded immediate fulfillment of the promises made to the residents of the border areas that they would be accommodated in safer zones to save them from Pakistani firing.
