JAMMU, July 29: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) today asked the Dy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh to clear the stand of his party (BJP) on the most controversial and highly dangerous statement issued by the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday at Srinagar.
Addressing joint press conference at PCC headquarters here today, party general secretaries- Vikram Malhotra, Manjit Singh, Manmohan Singh and Namrata Sharma came down heavily on the BJP and asked the Deputy Chief Minister to explain the stand of Bhartiya Janata Party on the dangerous statement of the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti.
They alleged that the Chief Minister had an interaction with local media persons in Kashmir on Thursday where she had said that ” had the security forces known that Burhan Wani was the part of the militant group hold up in Anantnag, he would have been allowed another chance”. The leaders asked the BJP to explain if they agreed with the Chief Minister when she said that the sacrifice of the boys will not go waste. She is not the Chief Minister of PDP activists but of all the people of the State including Ladakh and Jammu region.
The people of Jammu had voted for BJP in large number and it is the duty of the DyCM and other BJP Ministers and State BJP chief to explain their position before the people of the State.
The Congress leaders criticized the BJP for maintaining stoic silence on this issue. They said that strong resentment is brewing among the nationalist people from Jammu region against the CM’s remarks and they are shocked to observe the role of `so called nationalist’ BJP.
They further said that the present security scenario in the State is a matter of concern and especially when there is lack of coherence between the Government and the security forces.
Congress party strongly believes that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and all efforts should be made for the peaceful resolution of the present situation without compromising the security and integrity of the State, they added.
