Confederation holds provincial level conference to save reservation

JAMMU, July 1: All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organization’s organized one day provincial level conference in which leaders from various districts participated.
Addressing the gathering, RK Kalsotra, president of the State unit, presented the welcome address followed by agenda of the conference. He further exposed the inefficient Central and State leadership which has till date failed to implement reservation to the weaker sections of the society.
He said that no reservation is being provided in Rehbar-e-Taleem, Rehbar-e-Zerat, Rehbar-e-Sehat, consolidated, contractual, adhoc, temporary, need basis in Government Corporations, J&K Bank, NRHM, SPO’s, Anganwari workers.
Moreover, the Government should undertake exercise to calculate pending backlog of over 40,000 posts in these departments for SC/ST/OBC’s.
Kalsotra also demanded implementation of 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in the State.
Expressing displeasure over the plight of educated unemployed youth who are sitting idle, he said that the Government has vowed not to help the downtrodden, adding, no reservation is being provided in promotions and the employees belonging to these classes have to approach the courts for getting promotion, which involves huge litigation expenses.
The State leaders participating in the conference suggested accelerating the movement at tehsil and district levels by way of functions before August and in September a State level rally shall be held where national leaders, including the national chairman of the Confederation, Udit Raj, will participate.
Moreover the Confederation has decided to gherao the Parliament on November 26 for pressing the Government to place Reservation Act in ninth schedule to make it immune from judiciary.
Among others present were Darshan Bhagat, Rohit Verma, Sabar Chaudhary, Lok Nath, Ravi Angral, Dev Raj Bhagat, Romesh Sarmal, Slah Mohammed, OD Attri, Ashok Bhagat, Hans Raj, etc.
