Concessions to wards of Kashmiri migrants to continue: Govt

NEW DELHI, June 30:
Wards of Kashmiri migrants will get concessions in admissions to educational institutions in other parts of the country in the academic session 2014-15 that includes relaxation in cut-off percentage up to 10 per cent and up to 5 per cent course-wise increase in intake capacity.
In a letter to various Universities and the UGC, the Union Human Resource Development Ministry has said that the Kashmiri migrant wards will also get a reservation of at least one seat in merit quota in technical or professional institutions.
They will also get the concession of waiving off their domicile requirements, the Ministry said.
It said that the concessions were being provided in the next academic session in view of Kashmiri migrants continuing to face hardships.
The UGC, on its part, has also asked various Universities to make necessary efforts in providing the concessions to the wards of Kashmiri migrants.
In a letter to vice chancellors of all Varsities, the UGC suggested that these concessions may be brought to the notice of various colleges affiliated with them to help in immediate complaince of the government directive.
These concessions to wards of Kashmiri migrants were provided during the current academic session 2013-14 also. (AGENCIES)
