Concern over scarcity of water, power cuts

KISHTWAR, Mar 6: Expressing grave concern over the water scarcity and power crisis being faced by the people of the Kishtwar district, Civil Society member Shamsher Singh Bhandari today criticized the authorities for their failure in solving the problem.
In a statement issued here, he said the water scarcity is even faced in the Kishtwar town and in farflung and remote areas people have to travel various kilometers together to fetch a bucket of water. He said the authorities for years together have failed to solve this problem by finding an everlasting solution to it.
He said the people even face long duration power cuts in the district and were put to many hardships due to same in this Winter.
Bhandari also demanded construction of more parking slots in the Kishtwar town to ease the traffic jams there. He said parking of vehicles on road side has led to traffic jams often.
He also demanded that the work on Rattle Power Project be started which has been abandoned in 2014. This, besides boosting power generation will also help in over coming the unemployment problem of this backward and Kandi belt, he added.
