Come up as job providers, not as job seekers: Priya Sethi to youth

JAMMU, Feb 11: Minister of State for Education, Technical Education and Culture Priya Sethi today said that youth need to come up as entrepreneurs to become job providers instead of job seekers and shoulder the mantel of responsibility for the economic development of the State.
The Minister was speaking at a Career Development and Entrepreneurship Conclave organized by Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology and Institute of Management Science, here today.
Priya Sethi said the present generation of youth is emerging as a generation of entrepreneurs and what distinguishes a success story from the failures is that they proved themselves with their out of box thinking, leadership qualities and execution styles.
“Do not follow the herds but analyze and introspect what interests you and passionately pursue it with full dedication till you achieve success”, the Minster said adding that only by being passionate and actively interested in the work you do, can you inspire the change and shape the nation.
The Minister also urged the young female students to take initiative and step out from under the shadow of pre-conceived roles imposed on them by society and take command. She said that females are an essential part of the economy as consumers as well as business leaders and the women of the State need to also come forward and leave their mark in the State’s economic growth.
Responding to the suggestions put forth by participants at the conclave, the Minister said that Government is focused on development of entrepreneurs and MSMEs in the State and promised to look into the suggestion for setting up entrepreneurship skill cells at higher educational institutions.
Over 150 participants from Tawi Engineering College, YCET, IMS participated in the event. As part of the conclave, many events were organized to help students identify their various competencies that will help them sustain in different organizations and move beyond the horizons.
Several prominent speakers including Anil Suri, ex president of BBIA, SK Gupta Director IQAC (IMS), Dr Jaya Bhasin HOD (HRM & OB) Central University, Saheel Yaqoob Allaqaband Assistant Professor (MSME, GoI) addressed the participants.
