Colleges to remain closed, exams postponed

JAMMU, Feb 20: Even as all schools will re-open tomorrow for normal functioning, the colleges in Jammu district shall remain closed on February 21 in view of the prevailing law and order situation here.
While all the remaining exams of Class 8th and 9th shall be held now as per the date sheet, the J&K Board of School Education has ordered postponement of class 12th examinations (Regular Annual), which were scheduled to be held on February 23 and February 26.
However, rest of the class 12th papers with effect from March 1, 2019, shall be held as per the date sheet, already notified while fresh dates for holding the examinations of postponed papers will be notified separately.
According to an order issued today by the District Magistrate Jammu , all the colleges falling within the jurisdiction of District Jammu shall remain closed on Thursday. However, both private and Government schools up to class 12th shall function normally with effect from February 21, the order further says.
Meanwhile, the Jammu University has informed that all its offices will remain functional tomorrow even as the teaching shall remain suspended on February 21. All JU examinations slated for February 21, have already been postponed and notified earlier.
