BHADERWAH, Mar 27: Student of Chenab Valley Colleges, affiliated to Jammu University, held protest demonstrations on Monday against the JU authorities for deliberately disqualifying them in some subject in annual examinations.
Students of Post Graduate College Bhadarwah took out a protest rally at Bhadarwah against the JU authorities and blocked all link roads at Lakshmi Narayan Chowk. They were demanding re-checking of their answer scripts and shifting of Controller Examination to Bhaderwah Campus for 10 Colleges of Chenab Valley.
Nearly 300 students assembled at main gate of the College and while raising slogans against the university authorities, took out a protest rally. After passing through various areas, including PDD Office, Old ITI, Pasri Bus Stand, Takia Chowk and Seri Bazaar, the protest march culminated at Lakshmi Narayan Chowk Bhadarwah where a strong protest demonstration was held. The agitating students block the road and didn’t allow vehicular movement to show their resentment over the attitude of university authorities for allegedly playing with their future.
It’s just to harass and to play with the further of students. How is it possible that everyone present here secured 65 percent to 85 percent marks in three subjects but in the fourth subject, we did so bad that all deserved only 1 or 2 marks, “said a student, Mannu Kotwal.
“We are not that incompetent to secure a big 0 or just 1or 2 marks, this is the ploy of university authorities to generate revenue by compelling students to go for re checking by paying hefty fees,” said another student, Anime Sheikh
“We will intensify our struggle unless a separate Controller Examination is not introduced in Bhadarwah Campus for all the 10 Chenab Valley colleges, as we are fed up with the blackmailing and harassing tactics of Jammu University,” Anime, added.
The protest continued at Seri Bazaar and traffic remained suspended for a few hours as the students demanded assurance from the university authorities.
Later in the afternoon, Tehsildar Bhadarwah, Masood Ahmed, after holding several rounds of telephonic discussion with the university authorities, assured the students an amicable solution to their problem with in 3 days. After this, the protest was suspended by the agitating students.
Meanwhile, similar protests were held by the students at Doda and Kishtwar against the Jammu University authorities on the same issue and similar demands.
