UDHAMPUR, May 19: A college student committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance under mysterious circumstances at his residence here last night.
The deceased was identified as 19 year-old Rakesh Kumar, son of Mian Lal of village Ritti. He consumed some poisonous substance at his residence last night. The family members found him lying unconscious on roof of the house and rushed him to District Hospital Udhampur, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
Later, the body was sent for postmortem. The police after completion of all the formalities and postmortem, handed over the body to family members for last rites.
Police has registered a case under Section 174 RPC for further investigation.
Meanwhile, two persons were injured in separate road accidents, here today.
A Motorcycle skidded off the road near Sailan Talab Udhampur resulting into injuries to motorcyclist Sahil Gupta (22), son of Raju Gupta of Ward number 14, Sailan Talab. He was shifted to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors referred him to GMC Hospital Jammu.
In another road accident, a pedestrian was hit by a Motorcycle near Kallar. The injured was identified as Shubam (22), son of Rajesh Kumar of Shanker Nagar Udhampur.
