JAMMU, Mar 14: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said today that PDP-BJP coalition Government was firmly in place, will complete its term and fulfill ‘Agenda of Alliance’, reached between the two parties, and declared that the State was receiving full cooperation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Such is the support to the Jammu and Kashmir Government from the Centre that the Prime Minister has issued strict instructions to all his Ministers to meet all requirements of the State immediately,” Mehbooba said while addressing a public meeting at Kotranka in Rajouri district this afternoon.
Showering all praises on Narendra Modi and the BJP Government at the Centre, the Chief Minister said the PDP-BJP Government in Jammu and Kashmir was working for addressing grievances of the people and added that it would continue to work for the people for its full term.
“The coalition Government is firmly in place and moving forward with strength. It has been working for the people…the common and ordinary masses…addressing their grievances…solving their problems…taking the State on the path of development,” she said, adding that the Government was committed to fulfill ‘Agenda of Alliance’, which the two coalition partners have signed before forming the Government.
She said the Centre Government was very liberal towards Jammu and Kashmir, which was evident from the Prime Minister’s direction to his Ministers to help the State Government in all possible ways. She told the gathering that the Centre has approved Mughal road tunnel, which will make it an all-weather road and link twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch with the Kashmir valley. The road will also serve as an alternate link to the Valley, she added.
Referring to the BJP’s success in Uttar Pradesh and other States, Mehbooba said the success reflects the works being done by the Centre Government throughout the country.
“People have voted for development. You have seen the results. The country has been craving for development and good governances,” she said, adding that the State Government was also working on the agenda of welfare of the people, addressing their problems and moving on path of development.
Saying that the Union Government and the State Government follow similar agenda of development, Mehbooba said: “what the Centre has committed, they have done. Similarly, we will also fulfill the promises made to the people”. She said it was due to fulfillment of the promises made to the people that the BJP has been voted to power in Uttar Pradesh and other States and declared that Jammu and Kashmir Government will also fulfill its developmental and other agenda and take the State on path of progress.
Describing employment as major challenge in Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister said the Youth Convention organized by the PDP in Srinagar recently had also voiced concern over employment opportunities.
“The State Government is working in this direction. We are on the job. We will generate employment opportunities for the unemployed youth,” she assured.
Referring to tourism potential in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, Mehbooba announced that the potential will be explored and fully utilized to make the two districts as model destinations for tourists. She made special reference for development of lakes in the two districts.
Mehbooba, who also hold the charge of Tourism Department, said the Department officials would tour all tourism places and take steps for the development of facilities to attract tourists there not only from the State but all over the country.
The Chief Minister said she would take up the demand for construction of degree college at Kotranka and try to ensure that it was fulfilled. She also announced setting up of Mother and Child Hospital at Kotranka, which was a long pending demand of the people.
She said the demand for Budhal-Shopian road will be taken up with the Union Ministry for Road and Surface Transport.
A long pending demand of the area, the 30 Kilometre long Kotranka-Khwas road would be built at a cost of Rs 76 crore, benefitting some 50,000 souls and it would be completed within three years, Mehbooba said.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, in his address, said the present Government represents the aspirations of poor and underprivileged sections in the far flung areas of the State. He said there is sufficient availability of funds from the Centre and the Government in the coming years would change the developmental profile of the State. He appealed people to participate in the coming Panchayat elections to empower themselves and their areas.
Ministers, Choudhary Zulfkar, Abdul Gani Kohli and Naeem Akhtar also addressed the public meeting.
Minister for Education, Syed Altaf Bukhari; Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat; Minister of State for Hajj & Auqaf, Syed Farooq Indrabi; legislators, Choudhary Qamar Hussain, Yaspaul Sharma, former Minister, Thakur Puran Singh; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal and officers of district administration were present on the occasion.
