CME on new teaching model held in GMC

JAMMU, Nov 3: A CME on ATCOM new proposed model of teaching on competency based teaching learning methods by Medical Council of India to be adopted by all the institutions across the country was  held in Government Medical College (GMC) today.
The MCI has introduced this new concept based on the rationality that in the present conventional medical curriculum, the more thrust is on knowledge only but most important    domains of medical learning by Indian Medical Graduate ie skill learning, attitutde  , communications skills and ethics are not given much priority.
Thus this need was felt at the country level to include and stress more on communication and skill attainment during MBBS course.
Dr Sunada Raina, Principal GMC Jammu said that she welcome this new proposed curriculum as implementation of this will help institution to generate Indian Medical Graduates, who are beat clinicians and planner and team leaders who can deliver the health care in best way back go the society.
Dr Anil Mahajan, Prof and Head and Chairman TEQ committee of MCI said this proposal of new medical curriculum has been finalised by MCI  and very soon it will be responsibility of every institution to implement it .
Dr Ashok Sharma, Prof of ophthalmology, Dr VIshal Tandon, Associate Professor and Dr Rajesh Sharma Associate Professor, who are only trained faculty in GMC for ATCOM model, delivred detail lectures. They made faculty and students of GMC aware about this very important upcoming new teaching model.
