CM should fulfill aspirations of people of erstwhile Doda: Wani

JAMMU, Dec 9:  Former minister and  PCC general secretary Abdul Majid Wani today castigated the present Government for its failure in meeting long pending demands of the people from erstwhile Doda district.
In a press statement here today,  Wani said that the present Government which is an unnatural combination of north and south poles, has stalled the development process in whole Chenab belt, which witnessed a marvelous phase of growth and development under the leadership of Ghulam Nabi Azad as Chief Minister as well as Union Health Minister. Whether it was sanction for new districts, new Medical College in Doda, ITIs, new Degree & Polytechnic colleges, Rs 26 crore Dessa to Doda Water Supply Scheme, Mini Secretariat, new administrative units, new hospital building, construction of  new sports stadium, Ganpat Bridge in Doda, University campus for Bhaderwah, setting up of Trauma hospitals, new road networks under PMGSY & CRF, the people of Doda witnessed an unprecedented development.
But the present Government has failed to complete tender process for construction of Sudh Mahadev Marmat tunnel and 8 kilometers Dessa-Capran tunnels, which were sanctioned and even partial funds were released by the previous Government. These projects have been stalled with even no progress in the Medical College project.
Majid Wani, further, said the present regime in Doda district has started a new spree of looting of tax payers money, as the major works are being allotted and sub allotted to workers of a particular party, which has casted its shadow on quality of these works. Demanding, constitution of a Special Investigating Team (SIT) under the chairmanship of present DIG of Doda Ramban range, Majid Wani asked for an impartial probe in all works executed during last three years.
Further, Majid Wani demanded  redesignating Deputy Commissioner Doda, as Commissioner Doda Ramban Kishtwar and announcement of a special new division comprising all three districts of erstwhile Doda district, so as to relieve poor people of the whole Chenab region from sufferings of covering long 6-8 hours journeys to reach Jammu division head quarters for their petty works.
Wani also demanded starting Fruit and Vegetables Markets in Doda, Bhaderwah, Batote and Kishtwar, apart from starting rural primary markets in Assar, Baggar, Dessa, Bharath and Marmat areas.
