Clerical staff appeal Governor to resolve pay anomaly

Excelsior Correspondent
SRINAGAR, July 09: The Jammu Kashmir Ladakh All Departments Clerical Staff Association today appealed the Governor, N. N. Vohra to resolve the long pending issue of the clerical staff so that they will not be compelled to approach the path of protests/strike again.
While talking to the media persons, the members of the association said that the long pending issue of the clerical disparity/anomaly stand already examined and recommended by two highly empowered committees- Vyas Committee of 2007 and Khanday Committee of 2012 but these recommendations were put in cold storage and were never implemented in favour of the clerical cadre.
They said the Government later on convened a meeting in which the demand was accepted as genuine and agreed in principal with the commitment to resolve the issue through cabinet within three weeks with outer limit of one month but the issue remained unresolved owing to collapse of the Government.
“We decided to defer the strike for one month after the commitment of the Government. Accordingly, the Finance Department completed the framework and the proposal was finally sent for placement before the Cabinet which was to be scheduled on June 23 but unfortunately the Government collapses and issue remained unresolved,” the members said, adding, “Governor after assuming charge issued directions to put all pending proposals before SAC but two SAC meetings have been conveyed till date, but the proposal for pay disparity has not been placed before SAC council SAC”.
The members of the Association appealed the Governor to relieve the clerical cadre of this long discrimination and approve the proposal in the coming SAC meet.
