JAMMU, May 24: Jammu and Kashmir Petroleum Dealers Association has urged the authorities at the helm of affairs to clear all the bottlenecks for timely positioning of Advance Winter Stocking (AWS) to Leh sector. This was stated by association president Anan Sharma in a press statement.
He said AWS of petroleum products to Leh sector via Rohtang Pass presently is faced with numerous problems. He said about 6000 oil tanker load used to be dispatched ex-Ambala to Leh annually. He added that fresh tenders for the year 2016 were floated in January this year but the same could not be finalized due to status quo ordered by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court and Delhi office of Indian Oil Corporation could not finalize the tenders.
Anan Sharma said that presently only supplementary cases were being heard by High Court on the plea of shortage of judges for hearing. He highlighted that AWS to Leh/ Kargil has to be completed within only three months of available road communication.
He said the delay would affect not only the civil populace but defence forces, para-military forces and the police departments as Leh sector holds strategic importance and any further delay in positioning of AWS would invite unimaginable loss to all. He appealed to all concerned authorities to finalise the decision regarding positioning of AWS to Leh sector at an earliest.
