Clay modeling competition held

JAMMU, Dec 4: As a part of its week-long art and culture activities, Viraj Kala Kendra today conducted clay modeling competition, in which students from different schools took part.
Choudhary Lal Singh, Forest Minister was the chief guest, whereas ID Soni, President BSYG, J&K was the guest of honour. Zafar Iqbal Manhas, Vice-President, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages presided over the function. Prof Rita Jitendra, Former Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was also present on the ocassion.
The lighting of ceremonial lamp and garlanding of picture of Late V R Khajuria was done by the guests.
While welcoming the guests, Raj Bharti, President, Viraj Kala Kendra highlighted the activities of the Kendra undertaken during the completion of last 25 years of Kendra and also read out the detailed report on the achievements of the Kendra.
Prof Rita Jitendra said that the Kendra has been active for the last 25 years to extend its activities to the root level for folk and contemporary art forms.
Sarthik Sharma, a class 6th student of DPS and Drishti, a class 6th student of Crescent School were also honoured during this programme for representing J&K in National Level Painting Competition held at Noida, UP.
An art exhibition of sculptures by well known sculptor Ganesh Sharma, a disciple of VR Khajuria was also inaugurated on the occasion. His creative compositions in stone have been displayed in the exhibition.
Choudhary Lal Singh in his address said that the activities are to be executed to fulfill the dreams. He further said that one should take responsibility and step forward to reach his targets. He stressed that the political system needs to be refined to deliver the things to the public. He also advised the followers of late VR Khajuria to carry forward his vision and mission.
