Civil Defence organises debate competition on ‘School Safety Programmes’

JAMMU, Oct 13: Civil Defence wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police today organized a debate competition on International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction on topic ‘School Safety Programmes’ at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Canal Road, here.
Around 20 students from 10 leading educational institutions participated in the competition while Arun Manhas, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion.
The participants during debate highlighted the ‘dos & don’ts’ of the Disaster Risk Reduction.
They also highlighted the arrangement of the Disaster Preparedness in their respective institutions.
Speaking on the occasion Arun Manhas gave details of policies of the Government regarding disaster preparedness. He urged the volunteers of the civil defence to organize such programme in future also, so that the people can be aware regarding disaster risk.
Deputy Controller, Civil Defence, DySP Anita Pawar also delivered a lecture on the occasion and motivated the participants to be part of civil defence.
Later certificates and prizes were also distributed among the participants.
