JAMMU, Mar 11: Seeking re-organization of Jammu Municipal Corporation and highlighting other demands, Civic Safai Karamcharis of JMC held a protest dharna, here today.
The protesting Civic Safai Karamcharis raised slogans in support of their demands, which include re-organization of JMC, scrapping of NGO system by converting the workers as Casual Labours, regularization of Contractual Drivers, enhancement of wages of Civic Safai Karamcharis, etc
The protest dharna was organized under the banner of Civic Safai Karamcharis Union, led by Rinku Gill, who threatened to intensify the struggle if their demands are not conceded.
“The Government is forcing us to adopt agitation path and if no action is taken on our long pending demands, we will be left with no option other than to further intensify our struggle,” he said and announced that after similar protest dharnas on March 13, 14, Kaam Chor Hartal would be observed on March 16.
Members of the JMC Drivers and Conductors Union, Supervisors Union and Clerical Union also took part in the protest dharna, which was addressed by a number of the leaders of Civic Safai Karamcharis Union.
