Civic Safai Karamcharis continue ‘Kaam Chodo Hartal’

JAMMU, Mar 16: Continuing their `Kaam Chodo Hartal’ for the second consecutive day, Civic Safai Karamcharis of Jammu Municipal Corporation suspended their  work today and held a massive protest dharna at Town Hall complex.
In the protest dharna and Kaam Chodo Hartal, members of JMC Civic Safai Karamchari Union were also joined by   Drivers and Cleaners Union, Sanitary Supervisors Union, Clerical Staff Union and all other employees of JMC.
They are demanding re-organization of JMC, scrapping of NGO system, enhancement of wages of Casual based Safai Karamcharis and regularization of the services of the contractual drivers.
The protesting workers raised slogans in support of their demands and against the State Government. They threatened to continue the Kaam Chodo Hartal if the Government does not concede their demands.
The protest is being spearheaded by Civic Safai Karamchari Union, led by its president Rinku Gill, who addressed the dharna and alleged that despite their repeated reminders to the Municipal authorities on their demand, there was no positive action by the Government.
“We are left with no option other than to go on Kaam Chodo Hartal and if any epidemic disease occurs due to insanitation in the Jammu City, the JMC authorities shall be responsible for the same,” he said.
The protest dharna was also addressed by Vijay Kumar, Ranjit Singh, Gulzar Masih, Manga Mattoo, Camres David, Issac Bhatti, Ashwani, Jung Bahadur, Jewels, Vicky, Narinder Chanchal, Sadeek, Kulwinder, Rajesh, Rakesh, Shabba, Tersem, Bagicha, Surinder Bhatti, Thomas, Sabhi and others.
