JAMMU, Mar 1:  Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) State Committee has threatened stir against alleged attacks on trade union rights of LIC employees in Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to media persons, here today, CITU leader Sham Prasad Kesar informed that Divisional level management of the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India was choking the voice of workers in Jammu and Kashmir by resorting to suppressive measures.
He condemned the charge sheet and suspension of Com A M Tantray, president of Northern Zone Insurance Employees Association, Srinagar Division, following a token protest for one-hour by the Life Insurance employees yesterday against the anti-trade union and anti-workers attitude of Sr Divisional Manager, LIC of India, Srinagar Division, D C Thakur.
“No management can be allowed to suppress the voice of workers by resorting to suspension of their leaders on flimsy grounds and CITU will agitate against the same,” Sham Kesar said while expressing full solidarity with the LIC employees and their trade union movement in J&K.
He also appealed to the management to withdraw the suspension order of Com Tantray and settle all issues on the negotiation table. “Negotiation is the only way to settle all issues and the LIC management should invite workers for talks in the interest of organization,” he added.
Com Jagdish Raj Sharma, secretary CITU, also said that the workers did not want confrontation with the management of their organization but cordial relations and  suppression of their voice would not be tolerated at any cost.
The CITU leaders threatened to launch State wide agitation if the management of LIC of India does not revoke suspension of Tantray and invite workers for negotiations.
