CID organizes debate on Human Rights

JAMMU, Nov 27: A State level debate on ‘Violation of Human Rights escalates violence rather than controls it’ was organized by CID J&K.
V K Singh, ADGP Security was the chief guest on the occasion.
Jagjeet Kumar, IGP Security and Ali Mohammad Bhat, DIG CID Jammu and other senior officers of security and CID wing were also present on the occasion.
The participants debated on various facets and aspects of human rights violations and role of State in containing such violations. Besides deliberating upon the measures that can be taken to minimise cases of human rights violation, the root causes for genesis of law and order situations were also discussed.
Participants also highlighted the need to recognize and appreciate the human rights of the police personnel and the need for further improving professionalism in dealing with law and order situations. Measures such as organizing awareness programmes, training of law enforcement officers, greater accountability, engaging youth in sports and other activities, etc were suggested by the participants.
Speaking on the occasion, V K Singh enjoined upon all the officers to uphold the principle of fraternity and right to dignified life while performing their duties.
IGP CID, AG Mir, while referring the police service as the most pious job, stressed upon the officers to spread awareness and sensitize police personnel at all levels about protecting the rights of the citizens and to work for betterment of the society.
The jury on the occasion comprises V.S Samyal, Rtd DIG, J.L Sharma, (Rtd) DIG and Mohammad Yaseen Kichloo, SSP Vigilance.
DySP Suganda Mahajan won the competition, Insp Gurpreet Singh and SrPO Mohammad Sayeed secured 2nd position while SI Aazam Iqbal was adjudicated as 2nd runner-up. Besides commendation certificates, cash award and momentos were also given to the winning candidates on spot.
