Chuni calls on Dr Jitendra Singh over DPs’ issues

JAMMU, Aug 31: Chairman S O S International – an organization of PoK displaced persons, Rajiv Chuni today called on Union Minister of State in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh in his office chamber at North Block in New Delhi and discussed the issues related to DPs.
Dr Singh who represents Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha Constituency of Jammu region expressed his keen interest in mitigating the issues pertaining to PoK DPs. During the meeting, Chuni apprised Dr Singh regarding the difficulties which are being faced by displaced persons from PoK, especially those who were registered as DPs outside the J&K State.
Dr Jitendra Singh patiently listened to the problems and ensured Chuni that he will personally look into this matter. Dr Singh further said that he will talk to the officers concerned regarding the issues of PoK DPs. He said Govt is quite serious to provide every sort of help to PoK DPs. He ruled out all rumors which say this is the first and final cash relief assistance by Government of India and said that the amount which was recommended by JPC will be given to PoK DPs.
He said that other components of package like employment package to jobless youths of PoK DPs, reservation to the wards of PoK DPs in professional and technical colleges throughout the country are in active consideration of the Government of India.
Union MoS further said that Government of India is committed to it and it is doing all to give every benefit to PoK DPs. He again reiterated that PM and MHA are quite keen in solving the problems of PoK DPs.
DPs leader brought the matter of pendency of cash assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of approved cases for the last many months into the notice of Dr Singh and he pointed towards State Government for this delay and said he will talk to the State authorities to work over it by sending the details fast to Central Government so that relief amount can be sent directly into accounts of the people.
