Chilli, jeera rise on fall in supply

NEW DELHI, Dec 31: Red chilli and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today mostly backed up by fall in supplies from producing regions amid increased buying by retailers and stockists.

Red chilli traded higher by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 7,300-16,600 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also increased by Rs 100 each to Rs 18,100-18,400 and Rs 20,600-21,100 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists against fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly pushed up chilli and jeera prices.

Following are today’s quotations (in Rs):

Ajwain (per kg) 170-230, black pepper (per kg) 710-820, betel-nut (kg) 250-295, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 840-860 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 890-1,130.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,300-1,400, cardamom (colour robin) 1,100-1,125, cardamom bold 1,150-1,175, cardamom extra (bold) 1,250-1,275 and cloves 510-625. (PTI)
