Chib visits border villages affected by Pak shelling

JAMMU, Sept 22: Former Minister and senior Congress leader, RS Chib, today took an extensive tour of the border villages of Suchetgarh sector, which have been badly affected by Pakistan shelling, where innocent civilians have been injured and large scale damage to the houses and cattle took place, due to intense shelling and heavy arms firing by the Pakistan Rangers.
Chib, along with his party workers, visited Falora, Suchetgarh, Sattowali and Chak-Sheikh villages and met the members of those families, who have been adversely affected due to heavy shelling. Many civilians injured, houses damaged and cattle perished in the Pak shelling.
While talking to Chib, a majority of locals said that they were not even paid any compensation for the loss of cattle and damage to their houses, due to heavy shelling by the Pakistan during last year. Chib spoke to DC Jammu, to carry out a survey at the earliest, so that the affected families could be paid compensation immediately.
Chib asked the local administration to be more responsive and helpful to the people residing on the border, in this difficult situation and demanded that proper arrangements are to be made, for those families, who have been asked to shift out from their homes. They should be provided with proper facilities including provision of ration and medical, he added.
Rajiv Ranjan, DC Jammu, while talking to Chib on phone, assured that the compensation for the loss of the cattle and other property of the border people will be paid to them as per norms at the earliest. He said that this also includes the compensation to be paid for the loss of human lives and those who are injured.
