SAMBA, Mar 26:  Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Sharma today inaugurated Employment-cum-Placement Fair at Vijaypur which was organized by the District Employment and counselling centre Samba.
Deputy Commissioner Samba Sheetal Nanda, Joint Director, Employment Jyoti Rani Slathia, ACR Samba, ACD Samba, GM DIC, AD Employment Jammu Rehana Bijli, AD Employment Samba officers from different departments, industrialists and large number of youth attended the fair.
The aim of organizing the employment fair is primarily to educate the general public especially the unemployed youth about the self employment schemes being implemented by various departments of   the Government, Semi-Government functioning in Samba which include Employment, Agriculture, DIC, Rural Development, KVIB, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry etc  and  to  make provisions for the placement of  these  unemployed youth in different sectors.
Various Government departments  and prominent  industries of  District Samba    highlighted their activities  and also displayed the finished goods/products in the employment fair. About 400 youths were registered  on spot and screened by the various industries .
Sharma called for a change in the mind set of the unemployed youth towards entrepreneurship to become job providers instead of job seekers. Spelling out various State and Centrally sponsored schemes being implemented in the State, he asked the youth to take maximum benefits from the schemes to empower themselves socially and economically. He informed that such programmes besides encouraging the youth for setting up their income generating units help in developing cordial relationship between the department and the local people.
MLA Samba Dr. Davinder Kumar Manyal said that youth is the backbone of the state and hence a skilful and literate youth can contribute more in the development and progress purposely. He called upon the employment department to come up with an innovative and comprehensive proposal to address the issue of employment.
Earlier, Minister of Industries & Commerce Chander Parkash and MLA Samba Dr Manyal   also inaugurated an awareness camp in Govt. Girls School Tarore organised by the Social Welfare Department to educate the masses about various schemes of the department being implemented in Samba District.
