Chamber cautions JDA, ERA; warns agitation

JAMMU, June 20: The Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries has cautioned the JDA and ERA authorities not to harass traders of Old Hospital Road on the issue of encroachment on the approach road to new parking slots and warned to launch agitation.
A deputation of Dayanand Marg/ Old Hospital Road Traders Association called upon the president, Jammu Chamber Rakesh Gupta and expressed anguish over the unilateral decision of Jammu Development Authority and ERA, who by force were encroaching upon the six meter wide approach road, agreed upon in a meeting in the past in presence of MLA East Rajesh Gupta, that it shall be given to the shopkeepers to carry on their business smoothly where the multi storied parking is coming up near City Chowk.
The Chamber communicated its concern to Vice Chairman Jammu Development Authority, CEO ERA and MLA East Rajesh Gupta and Chamber warns the administration to put on hold the ongoing work of the multi-storey parking which has been going on very smoothly with the cooperation of the Chamber till now. Chamber further warns the administration that if the six meter wide road approach is encroached upon, it will lead to agitation and law and order problem for which the State Government and the Administration shall be responsible.
The office bearers of Jammu Chamber present in the meeting included, Rajesh Gupta- senior vice president, Rajeev Gupta – junior vice president, Gaurav Gupta- secretary. The local traders of the area included Ashok Gupta (president Old Hospital Road Traders Association), Joginder Gupta-gen secy, Devki Nandan Jain, Surinder Gupta and Raj Kumar Gupta.
