Chamatkaar Again

Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’
If one goes on making experiments in any art field, he experiences a strange feel that not only gives him inner satisfaction but also helps in carving a niche in respective field. At the same time, it’s also a fact that only one who is a talented enough and knows the basics of field can have the courage to experiment. The reason is quite obvious that following  mainstream is comparatively easier, but walking on entirely a different path is very difficult. The one who takes such initiative earns name and fame and emerge as the leader of new innovations.
Somewhat  same was witnessed recently at K L Sehgal Hall, Abhinav Theatre Jammu when the music lovers were provided with another everlasting experience by Dogri Sanstha Jammu in continuation to its immensely popular series_ CHAMTKAAR.
This series is dedicated to such poetry which has no rhythm at all and the music composer labours for  composing music for the same. Undoubtedly, it’s a painstaking and a challenging job. But as already said, the creative stuff is always aspiring for some new innovations through experimentation. Now if we are talking of music field in our own temple city then such a risk can be taken by none other than Brij Mohan, a name which doesn’t need any introduction at all. For the last so many years he has been serving music with all dedication and devotion.
After the success of CHAMATKAAR_I, he had been approached by music lovers that he should work on next project and Dogri Sanstha, a pioneer organization for boosting Duggar culture made it a point that it should become a series. And here came CHAMATKAAR_2 that did rock with all contents therein, whether it was beautifully written thought provoking blank verses, impressive voices used as the backdrop, singers who proved their worth, talented instrumentalists and ultimately the creator __The Music Composer.
In this particular program, there were five blank verses, out of which four were written by  Lalit Magotra, a prominent Dogri writer who has been a house hold name as a prolific Dogri writer as well as a promoter of Dogri Language and culture, and one was written by another eminent Writer  Chhatrapal, who has been a well known name not only in Dogri Language but in Hindi literature also.
The musical wonder started with Prof. Lalit Magotra’s famous free verse
“ Kei bari kavta
Mane ich aundi ae
Par hur kiti di
Uddadi jandi ae..”
Right from the first item, the impact had been created by wonderful composition that was sung by a teenager  Vanshika Jaral who never made anyone to realize that she was so young. She did captivate all those present in the hall with her melodious voice.
After Vanshika, it was the turn of  Naveen Sharma who is already a well known name in music field. He has been seeking advanced training at Delhi to learn more and more as he believes that music is such a vast field that one can’t master it even in seven births. One birth is not sufficient to learn music and then perform up to the satisfaction. But the way he sang Prof. Lalit Magotra’s emotional lines,
“Inni mati khushi bhi nei deyan
Je rajj hoi jaa
Man ge bhajji jaa
Muhaan ge laggi ja…..”, the audience was spell bound. They were more than satisfied with the composition as well as signing that had taken them into entirely a new world that can be felt only but cannot be described in words.
“ Inni tole sei nei jayan
Utra diye ambare upara
Raat teri seheli…” was another scintillating creation by Prof. Lalit Magotra that was very well composed and equally well sung by Roshi Shamitora. She also proved her potential to go a long way ahead in music fled.
After that Mr. Chhatrapal’s famous thought provoking free verse lines were sung by Vanshika Jaral that succeeded in making another impact on the audience.
“ Koi due di thahr nei lenda
Naa lei sakda ae
Har koi apne lei
Apni thahr bananda ae
Pyar ich…”
The last blank verse written by Prof. Lalit Magotra,
“ Mein ni jana chahnda
Rati ni naheri bukkla ich
Ikk hisle de
Suraj aangar… “speaks a lot about the different aspects of life. Within such words he has said a lot and every individual may analyse it at its own.
The program was compered by Raj Kumar Behrupia, a well known theatre actor. Those ones who offered voices in the backdrop of free verses were  Gurmeet Jamwal,  Nirmal Vikram, Balwindetr Singh, Rahul Singh, Tarun Sharma. All of them played their part with all ease and were successful in creating their own impression through recitation.
It is pertinent to add here that those who were on instruments also proved that they are immensely talented musicians and know the art of creating an imaginary world with their art. The credit for success of the wonderful musical compositions for blank verses also goes to them. On Flute it was once again a very popular name Rakes Anand, Sanjay Pashi with Guitar has been equally popular and so is Karan Malhotra on tabla despite the fact that he is so young but has excelled in this particular art.
Anjali Sharma, Director Doordarshan Kendra Jammu, who was the chief Guest on the occasion, was full of praise for such initiatives that boost the regional culture and offer a platform to get the literary works of prominent writers to reach to masses in another form. It’s really a dream come true for not only the writers but also the music lovers to listen free verses being composed in scintillating compositions.
Arvinder ‘Aman’, Addl. Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages who was the Special Guest on the occasion was also full of praise for a wonderful concept and praiseworthy execution. He wished that such efforts should become a regular feature and different organizations should come ahead and help in boosting our culture and traditions.
Chhatrapal, president Dogri Sanstha Jammu in his speech confirmed that Dogri Sanstha was made to deliver and they have been trying their level best to deliver in an innovative and a creative way, CHAMATKAAR series been a step further.
Let us hope for another CHAMATKAAR soon in the near future.
