JAMMU, Apr 15: The chain hunger strike by contractual lecturers (10+2) entered 60th day here today.
The protesting contractual lecturers have been demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the adhoc, contractual and consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services.
Amid slogans, the contractual lecturers today protested outside Press Club Jammu and also burnt their degrees on fire.
Balvinder Kour, Chairperson of the Executive Body of the Association said that they are highly qualified people and Government is paying no attention towards their grievances despite lapse of 60 days.
Kour said all these degrees are of no use and to express their resentment against the Government they burnt their degrees.
Zabir Hussain Shah, Vice President said that they have firmly decided to sit on hunger strike till the Government comes out with some concrete result. He also said that each and every thing should be in black and white and also favourable to them.
“We will continue our dharna and hunger strike till our cases for regularization as per Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010 are finally settled”, Shah added.
Yog Raj, Mukesh Raina, Shilpa Raina and Tripta Sharma were also on chain hunger strike.
While addressing the gathering, Anil Sharma said that government should avoid its apathetic attitude towards the contractual lecturers and adopt sympathetic way to settle their issue.
