CEO visits Samba, reviews special summary revision progress

SAMBA, Oct 15: The Chief Electoral Officer J&K, Shant Manu today visited various polling stations of Samba district and reviewed the ongoing special summary revision of electoral rolls with 1st January, 2017 as qualifying date.
Special awareness camps were organised at all polling stations where Booth Level Officers informed the public about process of registration in electoral rolls and claims and objection for addition, deletion,correction and transposition of entries in electoral rolls received.
The CEO visited various polling stations of Bari Brahmana, Jakh and Vijaypur and interacted with BLOs, general public and sought their feedback about the present exercise. He sought details from officials regarding progress achieved in adding new voters, claims and objections received if any.
He informed that the Draft Electorals Rolls were already published on 30th September 2016 and final list will be published on 10th January 2017.He also informed that similar special camps would also be organised on 22nd October.He said that any person, who attains 18 years of age on 1-1-2017 can apply for his registration in the electoral roll.
The CEO was accompanied by DC Samba Sheetal Nanda,Deputy CEO Krishan Lal, DDEO Charanjeet Singh,Tehsildar Vijaypur Iqbal Singh and other officials.
Earlier, the CEO also visited various polling stations of GandhiNagar and Rehari of Jammu district.
