CEO inaugurates 2-day training programme on ERO-NET

SRINAGAR, Sept 18: Disclosing that with the launch of  (Electoral Registration Officer) ERO-NET in the State, the electorate can upload their personal details at his or her own levels to  register themselves as elector, Chief Electoral Officer, J&K Shaleen Kabra said the system will reduce the chances of mistakes in electoral rolls and Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) details.
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) was speaking at the inaugural function of 2-day training programme organised by   State Election Department in collaboration with Election Commission of India to sensitize about ERO-NET to the personnel who are directly involved with the election related activities in the State.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that the ECI time and again has  initiated various measures to fine-tune the electoral rolls and has achieved in many of them. He said that ERO-NET is an initiative to provide error-free EPIC cards to voters, besides lessen the paper work as correct form filled at the entry level will be accepted through the system.
Kabra said that ERO-NET  is a web-based app to  facilitate the voters where people can get register themselves  for EPIC card or can get changed their details  of voter identity card online. He said that the inaccuracy and duplicity of voters will be contained with the launch of the ERO-NET.  The people can apply online throughout the years through this app, he maintained.
The Chief Electoral Officer directed the concerned at district level to submit necessary infrastructure related reports required for effective implementation of ERO-NET besides ensuring internet facilities. He also asked them to conduct awareness camps in the district regularly to sensitize people about the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT).
Imparting the training through power point presentation during the programme, Director, ICT, (ECI) Dr. Kaushal Pathak dwelt in details about various aspects of ERO-NET and National Voters’ Service Portal (NVSP) system so that it could be implemented effectively in the State.
Pertinently, the ERO-NET will be launched tomorrow.
Deputy Chief Election Officer, District Election Officers, Deputy District Election Officers, District Informatics Officers, Election Naib Tehsildars  and supporting staff of Election Department  attended the training programme.
