JAMMU, Oct 30: CEO, J&K ERA, Dr. Raghav Langer chaired the workshop on Capacity Building of Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) Jammu for operation and maintenance of 30 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Bhagwati Nagar here, today.
The STP has been constructed by ERA in the year 2016 at a cost of 35.63 crore and is under operation and maintenance of ERA since April 30 last year. The plant is to be handed over by ERA to the line department UEED for further O&M as per the decision of 21st Board of Governing Body of J&K ERA.
Detailed deliberations were held regarding functioning of the various units of the plant including the quality parameters of the effluent from the STP being discharged into the river Tawi. The presentation regarding O&M was made by the experts from M/S Thermax (contractor) and M/S IPE global the consultants.
The issue of handover of the completed and commissioned sewerage network in Jammu West by ERA to line Department UEED was also discussed and instruction was issued to PM and DPM ERA for handing over the as built drawings to the line Department and joint inspection of the sewerage works so that there is smooth transfer/taking over of sewerage infrastructure built by ERA.
Thereafter, CEO inspected various units of the plant based on MBBR technology. The 10 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plant of UEED commissioned in 1996 was also inspected and CEO enquired about the status of the 27 MLD STP which was constructed by NBCC under JNNURM and is housed in the same premises. Various instructions were passed by the CEO for inclusion of the upgradation of 10 MLD STP and landscaping of the area under the forth coming Asian Development Bank Loan III.
Further, instructions were passed to Project Manager Hydraulic, ERA for interaction with Horticulture and Forest Department regarding the utilisation of treated sludge/manure produced in the plant. Dr Langer also laid stress on preparing of DPRs for remaining areas of part A and B of Jammu City (i.e. Jammu East and West) where sewerage network has not been provided. This will ensure optimal load to the total 67 MLD STP capacity housed in Bhagwati Nagar UEED premises.
The workshop cum site visit was attended by Director of ERA Abdul Majid Wani and Satinder Singh Rana, Project Managers, DPMs from ERA, and M Tajchuadhary Executive Engineer and AEEs from UEED, Jammu.
