Centre’s move on Ayodhya issue another instance of Govt interference: Mayawati

LUCKNOW: A day after the Centre decided to move the top court seeking permission for returning to original owners the 67-odd acres of land it had acquired around the 2.77 acre disputed Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land, BSP National President on Wednesday accused the ruling BJP of indulging in racial, communist and religious derangement and going against the spirit of the Constitution.

Terming the decision ”another instance of forced Governmental interference and a deliberate attempt at ‘influencing’ the upcoming Lok Sabha elections”, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said that the common people needed to be careful of this new tactic.

Upping the ante against the saffron party, Ms Mayawati said that the efforts to disturb the prevailing conditions on a matter which is already pending in the Supreme Court was wrong and provocative, adding that this was a new poll plank of the BJP Government motivated by a politics centered on electoral vested interests.

The BSP honcho said that after losing touch with the common people due to its failure in addressing the issues of the poor, inflation, unemployment and illiteracy as well as the unsuccessful stint at the much talked about ‘development’, the Government was left with the last resort of using its political weight in the Ayodhya issue and other religious matters.

Launching a scathing attack on the BJP, Ms Mayawati said that the people of the country were oppressed and fed up of this kind of politics which was not in the interest and welfare of the people.

Inserting the fact that the BJP was afraid that it would not acquire power at the Centre after the SP-BSP alliance, the BSP supremo said that the party was now adopting all kinds of techniques which no citizen of the nation expects from a Government functioning in line with the Constitution of the country.
