Centre sends 6 NDRF teams to J&K for flood rescue operations

NEW DELHI :  Six National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been sent to Jammu and Kashmir for relief and rescue operations in the flood-affected areas of the state.    Home Ministry has sent in two NDRF team while as many were  airlifted from Bathinda(Punjab) to Srinagar this morning, a  Home Ministry spokesperson said, adding that two more teams will be moved later in the day.
The relief and rescue operations are going on well in the state and the Centre has already assured the state government of its full cooperation in dealing with the situation.    Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had a telephonic conversation with state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah yesterday to take stock of the situation.
According to reports, around 55 people have lost life in the flood-related incidents and many rendered homeless.    Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh to next of kin of deceased and Rs 50,000 to those with serious injuries, from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.
