Centenary celebrations of Ved Mandir held

JAMMU, Dec 20: The centenary celebrations of Ved Mandir were held in the Ved Mandir premises here today.
In this connection a function was organized by Ved Mandir Committee, Ambphalla. On this day in 1916 the foundation of Ved Mandir was laid at Jammu by Maharaja Partap Singh the then ruler of J&K State on the request of Swami Champa Nath Jee Maharaj. The Maharja allotted over 84 kanals of land for promotion of Veda and other social activities.
The Speaker State Assembly Kavinder Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion and the function was presided over by Dr Nirmal Kamal Gupta, Chairperson Social Welfare Board.
On the occasion a colourful programme was presented by the children of Ved Mandir which was highly appreciated by gathering. Speaking on the occasion Kavinder Gupta lauded the students for their performance during the cultural programme and also appreciated the activities undertaken by Ved Mandir Committee.
Gupta said that he himself is associated with the Mandir for last many years.
On the occasion Sudesh Pal highlighted the 100 year long history of Mandir. In his address Brig (retd) Suchet Singh said that various organizations working on the land of Ved Mandir are doing the tremendous social work and trying to reform the society on the basis of Indian traditions.
Dr Nirmal Kamal also narrated her association with Ved Mandir for last three decades and assured her full cooperation in day today activities of Ved Mandir.
Shiv Raina Director of Ved Vidalaya in his welcome address said the Ved Mandir is doing Nar Sewa Narayan Sewa and Swami Vivekananda and Ved Mandir is doing tremendous work for welfare of orphans.
He also threw light on the philanthropic organizations doing social work. He said Ved Mandir has no sources of income and the people of Jammu and outside are donating generously for the welfare of children.
