Celebrations of Vilay Diwas continue for second day

JAMMU, Oct 27: The celebration of Accession Day continued for the second day today with various social and political organizations holding rallies and seminars and debates throughout Jammu region today.
Raising patriotic slogans on the occasion of 70th Accession Day of Jammu & Kashmir with the Union Of India, hundreds of cars, scooters and other two wheelers of Panthers Party activists equipped with ‘Tricolours’ assembled at Janipur near Police Station and took out an impressive motor rally in the Jammu city spearheaded by Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman JKNPP, Balwant Singh Mankotia its State president, Yashpal Kundal State president Young Panthers and other leaders.
The rally after passing through Janipur, New-Plot, Ambphalla, Panjtirthi, Pacca Danga, Purani Mandi, City Chowk, Rajinder Bazar, Shahidi Chowk,Residency Road, Gumat, finally culminated at Maharaja Hari Singh Chowk Jammu where the Party leaders hoisted the National Flag with full honours and addressed the gathering.
Addressing the gathering, Harshdev Singh reminisced that Maharaja Hari Singh signed the instrument of Accession at Amar Palace, Jammu on October 26 in 1947 which was duly accepted and signed by Lord Mountbatten, the then Governor General of India on October 27, 1947 at Delhi. By virtue of this instrument, the State of J&K became an integral part of India.
Balwant Singh Mankotia and Yashpal Kundal said that India has to retaliate aggressively now in the wake of Pakistan pounding the border villages all along the IB and LoC recently. The leaders said that Pakistan should be given a befitting reply and taught an appropriate lesson for its misadventures and belligerent designs.
On the occasion of Accession Day, BJP district Jammu West under the leadership of district president Ayodhya Gupta organized a seminar titled Accession of J&K to India is full ad final at district office Kacchi Chawni Jammu.
BJP State president Sat Sharma, chief spokesperson of the Party Sunil Sethi, was the chief guest on the occasion. Sat Sharma said that it was due to timely and wise decision of Maharaja Hari Singh who signed instrument of Accession on October 26 , 1947 that people of the State are enjoying democracy today.
Sunil Sethi in his key note address laid emphasis on the fact that the accession of J&K is legal, voluntary, constitutional and non negotiable.
Functions were organized at Durga Nagar and Muthi by BJP Mandal on the occasion of Accession Day in which rich tributes were paid to Brig Rajinder Singh savior of Kashmir and Kargil Martyr Amit Kaul.
Those who paid tributes to the martyrs and recalled their sacrifices included MLC Surinder Ambardar, BJP Mahila Morcha National Executive Member Sheela Handoo, J K VM leader Ajay Bharti, P L Sudeshi and others.
Pradesh Youth Congress took out a rally at Udhampur today in connection with celebration of Accession Day under the leadership of Sumit Magotra Ex DYC chief and State secretary INTUC in which president of Pradesh Youth Congress, Pranav Shagotra was the chief guest.
In his address Pranav Shagotra said that accession of J&K with India is final and there no scope of any debate on the issue..
Maharaja Hari Singh Vichar Manch, Sainik Colony Jammu paid rich tributes to great warrior Brigadier Rajinder Singh to mark the Accession Day here today.
A function in this connection was organised by the Manch at Sainik Colony under the chairmanship of B S Jamwal, advocate. Vice chairman of the Manch, Sanjeev Manmotra, Parkash Singh Jamwal general secretary, Kulbir Singh, Satpal Singh Jamwal, retired Army officers and bureaucrats and several others attended the programme.
The people assembled in the function paid their rich tributes to Brig Rajinder Singh- Chief of Army of Maharaja Hari Singh, also known as the savior of Kashmir. He along with 110 soldiers left for Muzaffrabad on October 22, 1947 after receiving orders from Maharaja to counter the Pakistani raiders. Maharaja advanced and blown up the Uri bridge to delay the advances and all the men fought up to last bullet and attained supreme sacrifice. They halted raiders or four days near Mahura in Uri area, till the Indian Army landed the Srinagar airport.
Meanwhile, former minister and PCC general secretary, Manjit Singh paid rich tributes to Brig Rajinder Singh at his native village in Baguna in Vijaypur, while recalling his supreme sacrifice.
Congress leader along with locals of the area organised a function and garlanded the portrait of the Brig Rajinder Singh, who fight Pakistani forces and saved Jammu and Kashmir.
“It was because of Brig Rajinder Singh that J&K is with India for which the top ranking military officer laid down his life while fighting the enemy in the battle ground,” Manjit Singh said, while speaking on the occasion.
