CEC takes stock of public grievances

LEH, Jan 7: To ascertain the grievances of the people, Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo toured the Nubra region.
At Panamik, CEC assured to establish centralized residential hostel to ensure quality education. Development of a command area at Sasoma or at another suitable area was also promised by CEC. Dr Dawa further assured to take prompt action to improve drinking water system.
CEC said that Chushot and Panamik are such two villages included under the ambit of NRLM. A training program for skill development of the women folk of Panamik would be started soon, he added.
Dr Sonam Dawa on seeing the poor functioning of central heating system and water at hospital in Panamik ordered the engineers to rectify these problems. Execution of staff quarters in near future was also assured by the CEC.
Executive Councilor Tourism, Tsering Samdup was also present on the occasion.
On his way back to Leh through Wari-la, CEC met with people at different villages. Execution of permanent protection bund along Siachen river was a common demand to which CEC said that a mega project in this regard has already been submitted to Government for funding. CEC also assured to solve the problems of flood prone villages like Yulkham and Trisha.
The people of lower Siachen belt assembled at Sumoor and submitted a charter of demands to the CEC.
EC Agriculture Tsering Wangdus, EC Education Dorjey Motup, EC Animal Husbandry Mumtaz Hussain and concerned councilors and engineers accompanied the CEC during the tour.
