CEC reviews pace of work on hydro, solar power projects

LEH, May 7: CEC LAHDC Rigzin Spalbar today convened a meeting to review the implementation and progress of hydro and solar power plants undertaken by LREDA. The meeting was attended by all the ECs, Councilors, Jigmet Takpa, Project Director, LREDA and team of engineers of LREDA.
Takpa gave a presentation of the total projects in hand and detailed report on accomplished and ongoing works of LREDA. He informed that out of 22 hydro power plant projects, 10 projects are under execution with the deadline of ending 2014 and out of 125 solar power plant projects 92 are completed and the remaining will be completed by end of this year.
Citing the importance of the projects of LREDA, CEC Rigzin Spalbar said that these projects based on solar and hydel energy may prove highly beneficial for the development of Ladakh.
He asked LREDA to bring pace in the execution of works and work simultaneously on putting up the transmission lines in order to ensure electricity instantly with the completion of the projects. He also stressed on timely appointment of operators and their training that will enhance the durability and efficiency of the projects.
CEC emphasized LREDA to complete the projects in Changthang on priority considering the remoteness of the region and to match their objectives with Vision Document 2025 to ensure sustainable development in the district.
