LEH, Feb 15: The foundation stone for the up-gradation of 11 kilometer Stok Circular Road under PMGSY was laid by the Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal in presence of MLC Chering Dorjey Lakrook, Dy Chairman, Gyal P Wangyal and others here today.
Later, a programme at Community Hall Stok started by observing one minute silence in honour of the CRPF personnel who laid down their lives for the nation at Pulwama on Thursday.
Congratulating the people of Stok on this historic occasion, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal said that it was a long pending demand of this village which will be completed by June 2020 by spending Rs 13 crore. This road is being constructed with a new technology using plastic waste as a key material element would have ability to put off soil erosion, CEC said and urged upon the village monitoring committee to extend fullest cooperation with the executing agency to ensue completion of road within the timeframe by sorting out issues if any.
Assuring that LAHDC would arrange funds for remaining 300 mtrs road which is needed to link this circular road with Chushot main road, CEC mentioned that LAHDC has submitted a Rs 20 crore motorable bridge project over Indus via Palam under ERA scheme, that would further offer an alternative connectivity to the people of this area.
MLC Chering Dorjey congratulated to the people of Stok for this road project under PMGSY. He credited former MP Thupstan Chhewang for his added efforts in incorporating this project. Commenting over the recent major developments in Ladakh, Dorjey said that new Srinagar-Leh transmission line, Air terminal, Ladakh university and opening of new tourists and trekking routes would prove a booming opportunities for Ladakhis to step towards development and prosperity. He said Divisional status to Ladakh has brought a new hope for creation of new districts and more MLC seats for Ladakh.
Dy Chairman, P Wangyal referred to Srinagar-Leh power transmission line saying that the people of this region would receive dedicated power supply. He also made a mention of up-grading SNM Hospital from 150 to 300 beds with the creation of 33 new posts of doctors. Gyal said that with the dialysis machine bring into functional, the kidney patients of Ladakh region started receiving a big relief.
